The city of Písek offers a lot of sights, which are worth seeing. No wonder. The city was founded by Czech kings in the middle of 13th century already. It was prospering from that time until the beginning of the thirty years war. It was mostly because of kings Přemysl Otakar the second and Václav the fourth, who often visited the city. Přemysl Otakar hade a castle made here, where the museum of Prácheň is situated now. Písek is passed through by the river Otava.
